Why we beat the dealer

Dealerships order keys. We make them. We keep blanks and programming equipment in the shop, so what's a parts order and a second appointment for them is often a single visit for us.

Call with your year, make, and model and we'll tell you on the phone whether we can do yours and roughly what it runs. If we can't, we'll say so instead of wasting your afternoon.

Before you tow it to the dealership

The most expensive version of this problem is the one where somebody tows a car across town before making a phone call. If your car is sitting at home, at work, or in a parking lot in the Wichita area, call us first. Often we come to the vehicle, originate a key on site, and you never pay for the tow at all.

Two things that speed it up: have your VIN handy, and be ready to show proof the vehicle is yours. Registration or title plus your ID is standard. Any locksmith who doesn't ask you for that is one you should be nervous about.

Common questions about car keys

I lost all my car keys. Can you still make one?

In most cases, yes. We can originate a key from the vehicle itself and program the transponder so it starts the car, without an existing key to copy. Call before you pay for a tow to the dealer.

How much cheaper are you than the dealership?

It varies by vehicle, but savings are typically substantial, and you usually get the key the same day instead of waiting on a parts order. Call with your year, make, and model for a real number.

Do you program fobs I bought online?

Often, if the part is correct and genuinely new. Call before you buy: a surprising share of online fobs arrive locked to another vehicle, used, or simply wrong, and we can usually supply the right one for close to the same money.

Do you make keys for push-to-start vehicles?

For many of them, yes. Proximity fobs are more involved than a cut key, so call with your year, make, and model and we'll confirm before you come in.

My key broke off in the ignition. Now what?

Don't dig at it with pliers, that's how a cheap extraction turns into a replaced ignition. We extract broken keys and can cut you a fresh one from the remaining half or from code.

Do you come to the vehicle?

For lockouts and lost-key jobs, yes, our trucks cover the Wichita area during business hours. Fob programming is often quickest at the shop if the vehicle can be driven in.
